UPLB to honor Ramirez as UPLB Legacy Lecturer

The Interactive Learning Center (ILC) has slated the second public presentation of video lectures under the UPLB Legacy Lecture Series (UPLB LSS), this time featuring another great academic, Dr. Dolores A. Ramirez, National Scientist and professor emeritus at UPLB.

Entitled ‘Mother Cell’ of Philippine Genetics: The Academic Legacy of Dr. Dolores A. Ramirez,” the video lecture is going to be presented on May 8, 2:30-4:00 PM at the Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB) Seminar Room, UPLB.

The video lecture will feature the life of Dr. Ramirez, first University Professor Emeritus and acknowledged pioneer in genetics research and education in UPLB. It will showcase her scholarly contributions to the academic discipline.

The video lecture will showcase the scholarly contributions of the legacy lecturer in the field/discipline, underlining their roles in the development of the University and the country. The videotape of the lecture will be used to serve as an introductory lecture to relevant general education/foundation courses.

The UPLB LLS aims to record for posterity the collective academic experience of distinguished UPLB academics to be used as a learning resource for students and enhance the sense of intellectual heritage among faculty members. It is also envisioned as a presentation of the historical evolution of an academic field in the country

The UPLB LLS is being implemented by the UPLB-ILC as an initiative of the University to honor distinguished retired faculty members. The Ramirez LLS, is supported by the Office of Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Office of the Chancellor. (Beverly R. Pabro)
