ILC holds 4th batch of Training-Workshops for New Faculty Members

Furthering its efforts to mainstream interactive learning in the university. the
Interactive Learning Center (ILC) with the support of the Office of the Vice-
Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), recently held training-workshops on the
Development/Application of Interactive Learning Materials for new faculty members
(4th batch) on July 20-24, 2015 at Executive Conference Rm, 3/F of the Main Library
and at ILC Computer Laboratory 1, 3/F, CAS Annex 1 Building.

The training-workshops were designed to develop the skills and capabilities of
new faculty members on the application of different learning management systems
(LMS), alternative tools for teaching and learning and latest e-learning practices.
On the first day of training, lectures on Interactive Learning and Paradigm Shift in
Tertiary Education and Technology and Instruction in Today’s Classroom were
discussed by Prof. Alleli Ester C. Domingo and Dr. Maribel L. Dionisio-Sese,
respectively. On the next three days, participants had hands-on training on Modular
Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (MOODLE) with Prof. Nelio C.
Altoveros, Edmodo Social Learning Platform with Prof. Analinda M. Fajardo and
Alternative Tools for Teaching and Learning with Prof. Lynette C. Serrano. Individual
presentation of participants’ outputs was conducted on the last day.

The first, second and third batch of training workshops for new faculty
members were conducted on July 28-August 1; September 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2014
and January 12-16, 2015 respectively. To date, 80 new faculty members already
attended the said workshops.

Completion of a relevant ILC training-workshop on development/ application
of interactive learning materials is one of the requisites in the awarding of Grants for
the Development of Interactive Instructional Materials (BRP).
